Forest at the Labour party conference

Wednesday 28th September 2011, posted by forest

Two hundred people attended Forest's Save Our Pubs & Clubs event at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.

Five Live Breakfast presenter Nicky Campbell was there too, interviewing guests for the morning programme.

Speakers included former landlord Nick Hogan and John Tobin, vice president of the Clubs & Institute Union. Hogan and Tobin both called for an amendment to the smoking ban which they said had devastated Britain's pubs and clubs.

Highlight of the evening was the Beatles tribute band Made In Liverpool. Songs included 'A Hard Day's Night', 'I Feel Fine', 'Girl', 'Eight Days A Week', 'Twist and Shout' and many more.

The event attracted several MPs including Labour leader Ed Miliband's Parliamentary Private Secretary who told organisers, "That was the best event at the conference".

so now the government are dictating to us again, they have cut the tobacco allowance from 60 packets each to 20 packets, thats all you can now bring into this county legally, cigarettes, you are only allowed to bring 80 packets. they are again dictating to us about smoking.

I have arthritis, so find the coach trip hard, but only had to go twice a year, now it will be every two months.

The government will not be happy until they ruin peoples pleasure of smoking, and give us no option but to give it up.
