Localism bill will not allow councils to ban smoking in parks and cars, says minister
Thursday 11th August 2011, posted by forest
Local government minister Bob Neil says reports suggesting that the Localism Bill will allow the extension of smoking bans in public places are "wide of the mark".
"There is nothing in this Bill that provides additional powers to prohibit smoking in open spaces or in private cars.
"We are giving councils a general power of competence - this will allow them to do the things that any individual generally could. It will particularly help councils find new ways to work to save money and protect frontline services.
"But that does not permit the introduction of new regulation on the broader public."

Beware of lies about smoking bans! Tobacco Control will always lie, cheat, and even bribe to accomplish what pharma wants them to in a brilliant marketing scam for high priced nicotine products. In Ohio in the U.S. , Smoke-Free used felons to collect signatures to get the ban on the ballot that clearly stated that bars and restaurants would be exempt. The ballot language claimed exemptions for family owned businesses and private clubs. There ARE no such exemptions. 8 words, "not open to the public" and "with no employees", were purposely LEFT OFF the ballot language due to a purported "space issue", according to then Ohio Department of Health Director, Alvin Jackson. Signatures were counted that NEVER should have been counted. Judge Cain ordered all signatures on petitions listing the ACS as their employer, who were NOT PAID by the ACS, be invalidated.Posted on Aug 14th, 2011
· Judge Cain COURT ORDERED a list of ALL petitions in which the circulators incorrectly listed the ACS as their employer. 77 counties had such petitions; Judge Cain only got a list of 28 counties.
· Form 15s were filed AFTER signatures were collected, which BY LAW should have INVALIDATED the signatures. They WERE NOT.
· Out of state circulators listed Ohio MOTELS as their PERMANENT addresses.
· One company who PAID for signatures listed an Ohio motel as HIS BUSINESS address.
· Circulators signed their OWN petitions. They signatures were NOT supposed to count. They DID.
· Printed signatures were validated.
· Multiple signatures were SIGNED by the SAME PERSON, which was BY LAW to have invalidated the entire part-petition. It did NOT.
· SmokeFree Ohio did NOT have the number of LEGAL signatures required by law
· The sufficiency of signatures was determined 33 days before the election, NOT 105 days as REQUIRED BY LAW
That is from only one state that enacted a smoking ban, there are others. Wisconsin's newly elected governor ran on repealing the ban, but his wife was hired as Activities Director for the ALA which then became a conflict of interest to repealing. They will ALWAYS lie, cheat, and even bribe to advance total control over the population, it's time to fight the police state we find ourselves in or eventually lose more than private property rights!
Somewhere between the law and idiocy comes common sense, and common sense dictates if you continue to allow people to slap you in the face, stab you in the back and use your sets of laws to only reach their ultimate goal of destroying you, your set of laws, your country, your future and your beliefs, then it becomes a case of sheer dumbass stupidity. Don't ever underestimate the stupidity of most people, including legislators. The media and tobacco control can and are convincing lots of folks that to stand up and speak out against the threats to freedom is the same as being an anti-American. The liberals’ primary goal is total enslavement of the people to the whims, wants and desires of the nanny statist government. That's why We The People everywhere continue to fight for their rights.
