Philip Morris sues Uruguay over anti tobacco legislation

Wednesday 25th May 2011, posted by forest

Uruguay is being taken to court by Philip Morris International amid claims that the country's anti-smoking policies are damaging the tobacco company commercially.

PMI has filed the claim at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) because it says that Uruguay has violated a treaty for the promotion and protection of investments.
