Scotland's smoking ban branded a failure

Tuesday 17th January 2012, posted by forest

Legislation to ban smoking in public places has failed to convince smokers a quit, according to a new survey.

The figures show that smokers are ignoring anti-smoking legislation and health warnings and are refusing to quit.

According to the Scottish Government survey, four in ten smokers smoke at least 15 a day.

Half of those surveyed said they were trying to stop as a New Year resolution. The vast majority cited health and money as the main reasons for quitting.
