Welsh assembly government will not ban smoking in cars this term
Wednesday 7th December 2011, posted by forest
Legislation to stop people from smoking in cars carrying children will not be introduced during this assembly term, the Welsh government has decided.
But Health Minister Lesley Griffiths confirmed a campaign will run about the effects of second-hand smoke in cars.
Ms Griffiths rejected calls from Plaid Cymru to bring in rules sooner to make smoking in cars carrying children illegal.
But the minister said the Welsh government will launch a three-year education campaign about the effects of second-hand smoke in cars.
Ms Griffiths said the government will "consider bringing forward legislation," if evidence shows the campaign fails to achieve a significant reduction in exposure to second-hand smoke.

Is there anyone who can explain how it`s come to this? Firstly there`s no evidence that passive smoking even exists. It`s medical opinion but not fact. Why hasn`t anybody challenged the BMA in the courts to prove passive smoking exists. Remember they have to prove that it does, not that we have to prove it doesn`t.Posted on Dec 12th, 2011
I`m honestly baffled why this has never been challenged, if i had a few million i would have taken them to court years ago, and asked them to prove passive smoking exists. That would be very hard to do, as its opinion not fact. As courts deal with facts this would be a very interesting case.
Why the Brewers and especially the tobacco companies haven`t challenged the BMA in the UK is honestly bewildering. I live in Wales, and this stupid Welsh government are trying to ban smoking in parks let alone cars, on junk science provided by the biggest anti smoking group the BMA.
How it has come to this on peoples opinion is ridiculous to say the very least, it just wouldn`t happen regarding anything else apart from smoking.

I agree wholeheartedly Richard. I am appalled at the way smokers are treated and always fight for smokers rights and against smokerphobics. Posted on Dec 21st, 2011
When two massive industries (breweries and tobacco) throw in the towelwithout so much as an apology to the 12 million, yes 12 MILLION of us rather than fight along with us it makes me so angry. I felt that surely they would be "high profile fighters" of the discrimination being shown day in and day out to us, their LOYAL consumers, but alas, it seems that no one has the balls to take up our cause. I thought when they banned it, that THAT would be it (their war won, bring on the next), but no, it goes on and on, getting worse and worse. Ban it in the open air, ban it in cars, ban it OUTSIDE pubs, (and the most heartbreaking thing Ive ever heard is that they BAN it in psychiatric units - the poor poor souls, at rock bottom and then NOT even allowed to have a cigarette, bless em) and then we have people in hospital (they could even have had surgery - and its "outside with the heinous addicts" and its a LEGAL substance!!!) ban ban ban. BAN e cigarettes (disgusting - as I bought one so that if I get too uncomfortable I could just use it as a crutch), but no, THEY (and we all know who THEY are) are NEVER ever going to stop. I guess its because 12 million smokers, who buy one pack a day generate £144,000,000 - YES FOLKS One Hundred and Forty Four MILLION pounds per day. PER DAY!!!!!!!! and they are probably being paid by the Government out of OUR money, and good money it is too. Bloody hyprocrites. Ah well, I could go on, and I do go on, but just sometimes, I feel a need a rant, to get it off my chest.
