It's that time of year again when we invite you to join us for Smoke On The Water, Forest's popular annual boat party.

The smokers' group Forest Eireann has criticised the HSE's decision to ban e-cigarettes from hospitals and other health centres.

The number of people who use electronic cigarettes in the UK has tripled over the past two years to 2.1 million, according to a survey commissioned buy Action on Smoking and Health.

Forest has urged the government to keep an "open mind" on plain packaging legislation following an announcement by public health minister Jane Ellison.

Responding to the increase in tobacco duty (two per cent above inflation), Simon Clark, director of the smokers' group Forest, said:

The smokers' group Forest, which campaigned against revisions to the EU's Tobacco Products Directive, has questioned the need for standardised packaging of tobacco after MEPs voted to adopt a revised Tobacco Products Directive.

Forest: plain pack review "premature"

Sat 23rd November, 2013

Campaigners opposed to plain packaging of tobacco have accused the government of ignoring the views of hundreds of thousands of people who opposed the policy in a public consultation.

Thousands of UK consumers want the EU to abandon proposals to ban menthol cigarettes, increase size of health warnings and outlaw smaller packs of roll your own tobacco.

Forest has appointed political commentator and former member of the Scottish Parliament Brian Monteith as editor of its Free Society website.
