The Prime Minister, David Cameron, has distanced himself from plans to ban adults smoking in cars with children present.

Forest Eireann's 'Smokers' Manifesto' tour arrived in Dublin yesterday.

New Canadian research has found that not only are patients and staff ignoring hospital smoking bans, but the policies are also creating safety issues for patients.

While smoking remains legal, the number of smokers is never going to fall significantly, argues public health doctor in a letter to this week's British Medical Journal.

Call for higher taxes on cigarettes

Tobacco control campaigners have called for a one-euro tax increase on a packet of cigarettes in Ireland.

The voice of the Irish smoker is not being heard, according to John Mallon, spokesman for Forest Eireann.

Forest hosted two well-attended events at the 2011 Conservative party conference in Manchester.
