Forest launches 'Nanny Town' video online

Wed 7th March, 2012

Forest's battle against plain packaging entered a new phase this week with the release of our first campaign video.

'Nanny Town' was created by Dan Donovan for Forest to promote the Hands Off Our Packs campaign. It features 'Nanny Town', a track by Dan's band King Kool, on the soundtrack.

The video includes comments from a range of people, smokers and non-smokers. They include Hands Off Our Packs campaigner Angela Harbutt, Mark Littlewood, director-general of the Institute of Economic Affairs, Sam Bowman, head of research at the Adam Smith Institute, and Simon Clark, director of Forest.

It also features a lorry driver, publican, youth support worker and a retailer who is concerned about the impact plain packaging will have on the way she runs her shop.

Simon Clark said: "Government-controlled packaging is a threat not just to consumers but to thousands of retailers. The government is launching a public consultation on the issue and we urge retailers to make their views known.

"If you are opposed to plain packaging you can tell the government what you think by visiting the Hands Off Our Packs website and registering your support."
